Nokia’s cooperation with Microsoft
doesn’t refer to launching Windows Phone-powered smartphones and only.
Now we have learned Microsoft Apps will run on Symbian Belle-flowered
handsets, too. Microsoft Apps include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and
OneNote. So you’ll enjoy full Office functionality on your phone.
These applications will be soon
available. As it was announced at Nokia World 2011 in London, Microsoft
will be launched via two updates. The first batch will include Microsoft
OneNote, for detailed note-taking; Microsoft PowerPoint Broadcast, for
showcasing your presentations over the internet; Microsoft Document
Connection, for managing files stored in the cloud; and Microsoft Lync
2010 Mobile, for staying connected with clients and colleagues. The
second batch will bring native support for Word, Excel and PowerPoint
documents. The last one will be pushed out in the first months of 2012.
So before the end of Q1, 2012, all Symbian Belle devices will let you
easily create and edit Office files.
A thing like this is being done for the
first time. Nokia’s the first to bring Microsoft Office tools “as native
applications” outside the Windows platform. So handsets like the Nokia 700, 701 and 603 (the 600 was canceled, so it’s out of the list) will be in a rather enviable position when launched.
