Nokia Purity Headpsets Unveiled

We recently talked about Nokia’s partnership with Monster headsets, which was then followed by a similar partnership between HTC and Beat Technology. The purpose of such cooperations is to provide better sound quality and to help manufacturers promote their products. Moreover, partnerships like this work in favor of headset makers, as well.

Yesterday at Nokia World 2011 the company announced not only its first Windows Phone-flowered devices, Asha line handsets and special apps, but also the first output of the exclusive long-term partnership between Nokia and Monster, the Purity headsets. These accessories are mainly made to work with Lumia phones, and the colors they come with correspond to the colors of the Lumia smartphones.

So the first product is the Purity HD Stereo Headset, which is an over-ear model. It weighs 180 grams (6.35oz) and can be connected to the phone via standard 3.5mm jack.

The in-ear Nokia Purity headphones weigh lighter, only 18 grams (0.63oz) and come with an inline volume controller.

  

Both headsets are designed with a taste, and I’m sure they’ll help Lumia line smartphones become popular.

Nokia Asha 201 Hands-on Videos

Yesterday Nokia announced a new line of low-end smartphones running Series 40 platform, Asha. Some handsets from this line look like Nokia’s E series devices. Now we’ll talk about one of them — the Nokia Asha 201.

The Nokia Asha 201 is a candybar messaging smartphone, which means it’ll be welcomed by users spending much time on social networking sites. It’s packed with a 2.4-inch LCD display. Altogether, the phone is very comfortable to hold in hand, which is conditioned by its dimensions (115.5×61.1x 4 mm) and weight (105g).

This is not one of the phones we can talk for hours and still have something more to add. The only thing left to know is it’ll be available in Q1, 2012 for €60 ($85).

Nokia Lumia 710 hands-on videos

The Nokia Lumia 710 is the second smartphone of the company running Windows Phone 7.5. It has many common lines with its “elder brother,” the Nokia Lumia 800. However, its name shows the phone is designed as a lower-cost model, which means its features are a little bit weaker than those of the Lumia 800.

The Nokia Lumia 710 is packed with a 3.7-inch display, but unlike the Lumia 800’s AMOLED screen it comes with an LDC display. It has a 1.4GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and 8GB of built in memory storage.

The device is very comfortable to hold in hands. It looks quite different from the Nokia Lumia 800. The phone is too similar to the smartphones we saw in the early pictures, where the first Nokia Windows Phone handsets were introduced in different colors. The handset has three physical buttons under the screen; they are a bit clumsy and hinder the interaction with the phone.

On the back you’ll find a 5MP camera with autofocus and a LED flash able to record HD videos at 720p and 30 fps. The Lumia 710 is powered with a 1300mAh battery providing up to 7.6 hours of talk time and 400 hours of stand-by in 3G network. As for the measure, it comes with a dimension of 119×62.4×12.48 mm and weighs 126g.

The Nokia Lumia 710 will be available in early 2012 in selected markets. It’ll be much cheaper than the Nokia Lumia 800, $375 before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia Lumia 800 Hands-on

Yesterday was a revolutionary day for Nokia, because the company showed the first results of its transition. I think it has planned everything very well, and we clearly saw how Nokia can surprise  the entire mobile world. As you know, Nokia introduced its first smartphone running Microsoft’s Windows Phone Mango platform, the Nokia Lumia 800. We also saw several other devices and improved apps. And let’s not forget about the much anticipated Purity HD headset. Anyway, at this moment let’s concentrate on the Nokia Lumia 800 — the most important handset in this list on which Nokia’s future plans are based on.

The Nokia Lumia 800 has no buttons on the front, which makes the phone outstand in the market, because all Android-flowered phones and the iPhone have at least one physical button, and as for the Ice Cream Sandwich, there is only one handset missing buttons — the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. So in this sense, the Nokia Lumia 800 together with the Nokia N9 can gather a huge number of satellites. Well, the design of the phone is more or less familiar to us, and it was described in details in the Nokia N9 preview, so let’s switch to less familiar features.

The Nokia Lumia 800 is a quad-band handset with GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 providing 14.4mbps connectivity in 3G. The phone is packed with a 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive Nokia ClearBlack display, though in my previous posts I was claiming it comes with the same housing as the Nokia N9, so the screen size must be the same as well. Anyway, unlike the Lumia 800, the Nokia N9 sports a 3.9-inch AMOLED capacitive Gorilla glass display, and we must dig deeper. I promise we’ll come back to this with explanations!

The smartphone is equipped with a single-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with hardware acceleration and a graphics processor. It also comes with 512MB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. It seems 16GB is too low, but consumers will get 25GB of free SkyDrive storage.

On the back, you’ll find an 8MP camera with autofocus, dual-LED flash, and a Carl Zeiss f/2.2 lens. This is not the most powerful camera on the market, as there is always the Nokia N8 with its 12MP, but the Nokia Lumia 800 is rather well armed in this aspect. Unlike the Nokia N9, this handset lacks a front-facing camera. Lastly, the device is packed with a 1450mAh battery providing up to 13 hours of talk time and 11 days of standby on 2G.

As for the software, the Nokia Lumia 800 runs Windows Phone 7.5, which doesn’t differ from its previous version, though the developers have made some improvements in the platform; a turn-by-turn navigation app, a streaming music service and a sports information app.

The turn-by-turn navigation is called Nokia Drive, and it’s exclusively for Nokia phones. Moreover, it’s the only voice-controlled navigation app allowing users to download maps to their devices for offline use. As for the music service, it’s called Nokia Music, which also comes to Nokia phones exclusively. It offers a streaming feature called MixRadio. That’s an amazing feature offering users to stream music for free to their phone wherever they are. The sports app was made as a result of partnership with ESPN and Nokia. It allows users to access to scores and news for their favorite teams.

Other features worth mentioning — The Nokia Lumia 800 comes with dimension of 116.5×61.2×12.1mm and weighs 142g. It’ll be sold in black, cyan, and magenta colors (with color matched soft cover included). The first countries to meet the Nokia Lumia 800 are the UK, Italy, Spain, France, Germany and the Netherlands. The phone will be offered for 420 EUR ($577). Other countries will join the list before the end of the year. The U.S. will get it sometime in 2012.

Nokia Lumia 800 the first Nokia Windows Phone smartphone

Finally Nokia World took place and we saw what we had been waiting for. It firstly refers to the Nokia Lumia 800, the first Nokia Windows Phone smartphone. Of course, there were other products as well, but let’s talk about everything in order.

The Nokia Lumia is what we have called the Nokia 800 and though many analysts hurried to think it’s the same SeaRay or Sun, now we see this is an absolutely different device. The rumors the Nokia 800 will sport a 3.7-inch display turned out to be rumors and only. I had previously told you that they are destined to be only rumors. So the reality is different; the Nokia Lumia 800 comes in the same housing as the Nokia N9 does, which means the phone is packed with a 3.9-inch (!) display.

Moreover, the phone’s screen has a resolution of 854×480 pixels and is made using ClearBlack AMOLED technology. All in all, the Nokia Lumia 800 is the same Nokia N9 with Windows Phone Mango on the board, so at this moment let’s not mention all its specs, because you always can check out our Nokia N9 preview. Several features worth to be persistently mentioned are 1.4 GHz CPU, 16GB of internal memory, 25GB of free SkyDrive space, Carl Zeiss optics-enhanced lens and f/2.2 aperture.

As for availability, the Nokia Lumia 800 is ready for pre-orders for €420 (about $585). The first countries to meet this phone are France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK. Consumers from these countries can get their hands on the phone from the beginning of November. The second patch will be shipped to Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan before the end of the year. Other parts of the world will get it sometime next year.

Nokia also announced the Lumia 710. The device looks weaker and is designed for low-income markets. This is why it’s packed with a 3.7-inch ClearBlack display, a 1.4GHz CPU and runs Windows Phone Mango. The Nokia Lumia 710 is priced at €270 ($375). By the end of the year it’ll be available in Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan. Other countries will get the device in the first half of 2012.

  

  

  

Nokia also unveiled a new lineup called Asha. These devices will run Series 40. As you see they are designed as low-end smartphones. Today we saw four handsets from the Asha lineup, the 200, 201, 300 and 301. They are all made “to connect the next billion.” We’ll talk about them in details later; at this moment you only need to know they are quite cheap.

 

  

And lastly, Nokia announced Drive Navigation, Mix Radio, and ESPN Sports Hub cloud services for WP7. As for accessories, the Finnish company introduced the Purity HD Stereo Headset by Monster.

Nokia 800 spotted in pink

I don’t understand why bloggers and geeks think the Nokia 800 is the same Nokia Sun or SeaRay, because some time ago a spotted document clearly showed the Nokia 800 is not the Nokia SeaRay. Call it however you want, the Sabre, the Ace or, but it is not the SeaRay or the Sun. However, today we’ll know whether the Nokia 800 is any of these handsets, but before it happens, we have found two ther leaked photos of the phone. This time it comes in pink.

We don’t know much about the Nokia 800 features, but some of them have been rumored earlier. According to them, the Nokia 800 comes with a 3.7-inch WVGA display, Wi-Fi, HSPA, GPS, and an 8MP camera. Of course, it will run Windows Phone Mango. However, here is one thing that seems suspicious—the Nokia N9 sports a 3.9-inch display, and as you have noticed the Nokia 800 has the same appearance as the Nokia N9. So, I guess the Nokia 800 is the same Nokia N9 with Windows Phone on board, and it will come with those features we have seen in the MeeGo-powered device.

Nokia 900 with Windows Phone Mango spotted

We have heard about 5 Nokia handsets that will run Windows Phone Mango. Moreover, probably some of them will be the same device leaked with different names. But one thing we know for sure—the Nokia 800 exists and most likely it will be unveiled at Nokia World. However, at this moment we introduce you other documents showing Nokia has another WP-powered device ready for launch, the Nokia 900.

The Nokia 900 pictures were posted by The Nokia Blog, and though we like this blog, we can’t be sure of its authenticity yet. Anyway, according to the source, the Nokia 900 is going to be a high-end device with its 4.3 inch ClearBlack AMOLED display, Bluetooth 4.0, 1.4GHz processor, NFC, 8MP Carl Zeiss camera with dual LED flash, 1GB of RAM, 16/32 GB of internal memory, and 1800mAh battery.  You have to agree the specs list sounds good, and taking into account the slogan of the phone “Thin. Smart. Powerful.”, we can say we are dealing with a smartphone that is going to conquer the world.

May be the Nokia 900 won’t be introduced at Nokia World, but I am sure it’ll come in the near future.
